Items are objects the player can obtain, store in their bag, and use. Typically, items aid in healing, powering up, catching, exploration, evolution, and form changes.

Held items are equipped by a Pokémon to provide a passive effect or a one-time benefit. They can boost moves, heal, or trigger special effects. The item remains held until it activates, is removed, or is replaced.
Some items activate automatically when conditions are met, like low HP or a status effect. Others provide constant bonuses such as extra damage or stat boosts. Items can be key to team strategy.
Consumable items are used up when their effect activates, such as berries or single use battle items. After activation, they are no longer held unless replaced.
Key items are story or utility tools that are not used up. They unlock features like travel options or special encounters. They typically cannot be held in battle.
Items can be found in shops, on the ground, as quest rewards, or by using pickup abilities.
